Iren Arutyunyan

Iren Arutyunyan began studying classical guitar at the age of seven under the instruction of her father. Iren holds a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music from the University of Southern California. Iren is the winner of several prestigious guitar competitions; in November of 2011 she was selected as the winner of Guitar Foundation of America Regional Pre-Professional Soloist Competition that included participants from all over California. Iren has participated in numerous master classes and studied with guitar superstars such as Scott Tenant, Brian Head, Pepe & Angel Romero, David Russell, and Paul Galbraith. In 2011 Iren was featured as a YouTube soloist for Guitar Salon International; the videos acquired over twenty thousand views.

In 2010, Iren formed LeChic Duo with left-hand guitarist Sofia Gleeson. The duo created a web episode series called “Guitar O’clock” addressing the daily life of a guitar duo with topics such as recording, performance, and pioneering experiences. LeChic Duo can be found on the artist roster for Cordoba Guitars representing the company’s new line of electric-acoustic guitars.  

From 2010 to 2012, Iren led an afterschool music program for Youth Policy Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing academic assistance and enrichment activities to empower youth. In the summer of 2012, Iren attended the Volterra Project in Italy created and led by Antigoni Goni which offered masterclasses, music physiology training, management seminars, and community performances. As of 2012, Iren continues to perform and teach extensively in Southern California.
